George and Marie Cavanaugh were trying to raise money to help build a church in South Dakota. Marie had a scrumptious recipe for a pecan roll that had been passed down to her by an aunt. She started making pecan rolls and tweaking the recipe to make other delicious candy confections to sell them. When the church was built, people still wanted to buy her chocolates, so the Cavanaugh’s decided to open a candy shop. Marie went to the bank armed with only a one-pound box of chocolates to ask for a loan of ,000 to open a store. Not only did Marie get the money, but the banker ate the whole box of chocolates during their meeting and gave Marie her first order of 200 pounds of chocolates. Mrs. Cavanaugh’s Chocolates was born. Mrs. Cavanaugh’s Chocolates and Ice Cream has been family owned and operated since 1964, and is currently run by the second and third generations of Cavanaughs. Every confection we produce is made to put a smile on your face. We have perfected a product that is worth tasting. We only use the highest-quality ingredients and freshest creams. Plus, we never use any preservatives. To us, quality is more important than quantity. Every piece of candy that we make is created by hand and has its own unique marking on top. Our specialties include caramels, cream fondants, brittles, popcorn, ice cream, truffles, and more. Our factory is located in North Salt Lake, Utah, where we offer tours to the public and a retail store in the front. There are 5 other retail stores in Utah: in Bountiful, North Ogden, Valley Fair Mall, Layton Hills Mall, and Orem. We also have one location in Spokane, Washington. The best quality candy, ice cream, and customer satisfaction are our main goal.
